Empatia nie je pamiatka, ktorú stačí obnoviť do pôvodného stavu. Je to stavba, ktorú treba navrhnúť odznova.
Drama Queer je jediný divadelný festival na Slovensku, ktorý sa systematicky venuje queer tematike. Od roku 2013 prináša do Bratislavy inscenácie a performance, ktoré nevznikli preto, aby niekoho presvedčili — vznikli preto, že bez nich by v našej kultúre chýbal celý register skúsenosti.
Festival organizuje občianske združenie Drama Queer.
Architektúra empatie
Ročník 2026 prichádza v čase, ktorý sociológovia a kultúrni teoretici nazývajú polykrízou — v období, kde sa simultánne prelínajú krízy klimatické, geopolitické a identitárne. V takomto kontexte už nestačí, aby queer festival plnil funkciu reprezentácie menšiny alebo bezpečného priestoru. To sú základy, nie stavba.
Ambíciou 14. ročníka je posun od politiky identity k politike telesnosti a radikálnej predstavivosti. Program preto netvorí zoznam hosťujúcich diel, ale konštrukciu — dramaturgickú architektúru, ktorá stojí na troch nosných prvkoch.
Pamäť
Ako nástroj traumy i liečenia. Queer minulosť nie je len zoznam krívd; je to archív odvahy, ktorý si treba privlastniť, kým ho niekto nezavrie.
Budúcnosť
Ako priestor pre špekulatívnu fikciu a nádej. Otázka sa presúva od boja za práva v prítomnosti k tomu, či vôbec existuje spoločná budúcnosť, do ktorej sa dá vojsť.
Telo
Ako primárne bojisko o slobodu. Nie ako ilustrácia témy, ale ako argument, ktorý sa nedá vyvrátiť slovami.
Geografia, ktorá nie je náhodná
Oblúk ročníka siaha od Českej republiky a Slovenska cez Bosnu a Hercegovinu až po Nórsko a Nemecko. Sú to kultúrne priestory s hlboko odlišnou historickou skúsenosťou s inakosťou — od povojnovej traumy po severskú prosperitu — no spája ich to isté úsilie: redefinovať spoločenské normy zvnútra, umením, nie manifestom.
Rôznorodosť ako moment spájania
Spoločná identita. Rôznorodosť je to jediné, čo máme všetci spoločné.
Priestor a počúvanie. Dávame hlas tým, ktorých je najľahšie prehliadnuť.
Pozitívne zviditeľnenie. Meníme naratív. Queer kultúra nie je hosťom v meste — patrí doň.
Viac než len divadlo
Popri inscenáciách tvoria festival diskusie, ktoré otvárajú dialóg namiesto konfrontácie, umelecké rezidencie chrániace slobodu v tvorbe a predovšetkým bezpečný priestor, v ktorom sa komunita nielen stretáva, ale aj buduje.
Pre koho
Pre širokú verejnosť, LGBTI+ komunitu, študentstvo, mládež a všetkých, ktorí majú záujem oslavovať jedinečnosť života. Vstup do stavby je otvorený z oboch strán.

About the festival
Empathy is not a monument to be restored to its original state. It is a structure that has to be designed anew.
Drama Queer is the only theatre festival in Slovakia dedicated systematically to queer subject matter. Since 2013 it has brought productions and performances to Bratislava that were not made to persuade anyone — they were made because without them an entire register of human experience would be missing from our culture.
The festival is organised by the NGO Drama Queer.
Architecture of Empathy
The 2026 edition arrives in what sociologists and cultural theorists call a polycrisis — a period in which climate, geopolitical and identity crises overlap simultaneously. In such a context it is no longer enough for a queer festival to function as minority representation or a safe space. Those are the foundations, not the building.
The ambition of the 14th edition is a shift from the politics of identity towards the politics of the body and radical imagination. The programme is therefore not a list of guest productions but a construction — a dramaturgical architecture resting on three load-bearing elements.
Memory — as an instrument of both trauma and healing. The queer past is not merely a record of injustice; it is an archive of courage that must be claimed before someone closes it.
The future — as a space for speculative fiction and hope. The question shifts from fighting for rights in the present to whether a shared future exists at all.
The body — as the primary battleground for freedom. Not as an illustration of the theme, but as an argument that words cannot refute.
A geography that is no coincidence
This edition’s arc reaches from Czechia and Slovakia through Bosnia and Herzegovina to Norway and Germany — cultural spaces with profoundly different historical experiences of otherness, from post-war trauma to Nordic prosperity, united by the same effort: to redefine social norms from within, through art rather than manifesto.
Diversity as a point of connection
Shared identity. Diversity is the one thing all of us have in common.
Space and listening. We give a voice to those who are easiest to overlook.
Positive visibility. We are changing the narrative. Queer culture is not a guest in the city — it belongs to it.
More than theatre
Alongside the productions, the festival comprises discussions that open dialogue instead of confrontation, artistic residencies that protect freedom in creative work, and above all a safe space in which the community does not merely gather but builds.
Who it is for
For the general public, the LGBTI+ community, students, young people and everyone interested in celebrating the uniqueness of life. The building can be entered from both sides.
